Thank you to AllerEase for providing me with products to facilitate my blog review. All opinions are 100% my own.

Did you know that “a typical mattress can have 100,000 to 10 million dust mites lurking inside!” Gross! How about the fact that “67% percent of Americans report due to a lack of sleep their health status is either “poor” or “only fair.” Sad, right? Not getting a good night sleep can negatively affect us in so many ways.

AllerEase, the leading brand of allergen barrier bedding, conducted a survey asking Americans about their sleep. Their survey results showed that at least one-third of allergy sufferers report compromised sleep due to their symptoms. They went on to say that “Forty-two percent of Americans have also stated that they’ve woken up with allergy-like symptoms.” Those symptoms include itchy eyes, stuffy nose, etc.

So, how can you give your bed a sleep hygiene makeover? With the help of health and wellness expert Stephanie Popso, AllerEase created a list of ways to improve your sleep hygiene. Before we get started, let’s make sure we all know what sleep hygiene is. Sleep hygiene refers to your sleep routine. To improve your sleep routine or sleep hygiene try these tips:

  • Make a sleep schedule and stick to it. Go to bed and get up at the same time each and every day.
  • Turn off nighttime stimulates like your electronic devices, an hour before bedtime.
  • Keep your bedding clean by washing them in hot water every week.
  • Use an allergen-barrier mattress protector like AllerEase Maximum to prevent dust mites, pollen, and pet dander from collecting in your mattress.
  • Rather than taking your shower in the morning, take it at night. This will remove allergens from your hair and skin before you climb into bed.
  • Add an air purifier and/or live plants to your bedroom. They help reduce indoor air pollutants.
  • If possible, limit the time your pets are allowed in your bedroom. If that isn’t possible, again, using allergen barrier bedding will help reduce the allergens from penetrating your mattress.

As I said earlier, AllerEase is the leading brand of allergen barrier bedding. The complete line of AllerEase products includes- mattress and pillow encasements, pillows, comforters, mattress pads, sheet sets, and blankets. AllerEase products are quiet, comfortable, and hypoallergenic.

Last week, I gave my daughters a sleep hygiene makeover. We vacuumed their mattresses and sprayed non-toxic disinfectant on them. Once the mattresses were completely dried, we placed AllerEase Maximum mattress protectors on them. AllerEase Maximum mattress protectors fully-encase the mattress, limiting allergen exposure, and protecting the mattress from dust mites, pollen, bedbugs, pet dander, and other household irritants building up. We finished making their beds with AllerEase comforters and pillows with AllerEase Maximum pillow protectors. The girls are now getting better quality sleep each night.
