Thanks to Maxi-Cosi for sending me these incredible seats. As always, all opinions are my own.

With two kids in car seats, I’m always on the hunt for the safest option on the market. Maxi-Cosi has been a long-time industry leader and is the #1 baby car seat brand worldwide. When I had the opportunity to surround both of my kids in the safety of the Maxi-Cosi Magellan, I jumped at the chance!

Maxi-Cosi Magellan

This 5-in-1 Car Seat is the perfect option from infancy through age ten. The seat “grows” with your child in a variety of ways that keep them safe and comfortable during each car ride. It’s amazing how quickly kids grow from year to year (we made hand and footprint ornaments last year and when we took them out this year – WOW – I couldn’t believe how they’d grown!). With all these changes, it’s important to invest in a car seat that will grow with your child so you don’t have to purchase a new one every few years.

Maxi-Cosi Customizations

The Magellan is rated from 5-120 pounds, and allows for a wide range of adaptability. With 7-position recline and 14 headrest heights, it’s simple to adjust for your child’s size. The headrest and recline can be adjusted with just one hand, and are very intuitive to make customization simple for parents. As a busy mom, there’s nothing worse than having to take apart a car seat just to adjust strap heights. With the Magellan, I don’t have to do that-I can just squeeze the height-adjustment and pull up or push down to set the strap height.

Maxi-Cosi’s Magellan is also the only seat with adjustable torso height positions. This is a huge deal for our daughter who has a long torso. She hates when the headrest squishes her shoulders in, and that doesn’t happen with the Magellan. The recline adjustments are made simple with this car seat also, and there’s a level indicator to make sure your seat has the correct recline depending if you’re rear-facing, forward-facing, or using in booster mode.

Rear-Facing in the Maxi-Cosi Magellan

Our son is three years old, weighs 31 pounds, and is 35 inches tall. He is still rear-facing as recommended by the AAP and until he reaches the height or weight limits of his seat he’ll stay safest facing backwards. Since the rear-facing limit of this seat is 40 pounds, he won’t be turning around any time soon! As far as safety, The Magellan has Air Protect™ which is built into the headrest to cushion the impact and also provides a soft pillow of comfort.

Forward Facing in the Maxi-Cosi Magellan

Our daughter is five years old and she rear-faced until past age four. She is now forward facing but still in the five-point harness and will be until she reaches 65 pounds. She’s currently 42 pounds so she’ll be staying safe in the five-point-harness for awhile to come. I love that the Magellan has torso and headrest adjustments for tall kids, because she’s got a lot of height in her upper body! Luckily, this seat accomodates for her height and she can ride safely while still being comfortable. She loves how soft the Magellan seat is, and she appreciates having two cup holders, too!

Maxi-Cosi Magellan Comfort

The Magellan is a super comfortable seat starting with the soft to the touch, easy to remove infant pillow system. Since our kids are older we don’t use much of the pillow system, but I would love it if I had an infant! The car seat features self-wicking fabrics to keep your little one dry and comfortable in those hot summer months, while warm and cozy the rest of the year. Since it’s winter in Minnesota now, a cozy seat is exactly what we need! The fabrics have been tailored to fit but in case of those unwanted messes, they’re machine washable and dryer safe.

Our kids both have the Magellan in Emerald Tide, but the seat is available in five different colorways so your kids can choose their favorites!
