I own my fair share of kitchen gadgets but my very favorite is a countertop ice maker. I love having fresh nugget ice for my iced coffees, water, and protein shakes. Newair is the brand I turn to for all of my appliances and they have a huge variety of ice makers depending on your needs. I wanted something compact because we don’t have a ton of counter space so I decided on the Newair NIM026MBN0 26 lbs. Countertop Nugget Ice Maker.

This Newair Ice Maker takes up very little counter space. We live in a 100 year old farm house and we have very limited room for appliances, so I appreciate how compact this is. Even at its compact size, it makes a ton of ice throughout the day! If you keep it full and empty or use the ice regularly, it can make up to 26 pounds of ice daily. My family of four loves having ice to add to drinks – in the winter we don’t use quite as much, but in the summer we use a ton!
Setting up the ice maker is extremely simple; there’s nothing to assemble so you just need to run water through it a couple of times to clean out any residue from production and shipping. Within half an hour I had ours up and running with tasty, chewable ice nuggets! I love the tiny nuggets this machine produces-when I was pregnant I used to chew on ice and I would have loved to have this ice maker rather than breaking up larger ice pieces.
It’s really easy to refill this ice maker with water; there’s a small notch next to the ice basket so you don’t need to remove it like you do with other machines. When the machine is running low on water it will light up on the front to notify you. Additionally, it tells you when the ice basket is full so you know it’s not producing any more. With a self-cleaning function you never need to worry about your ice starting to taste funky. It always tastes fresh and you can tell by looking at the pellets that they’re clear and clean!
Not only do I love this nugget ice maker and I think it would make a great gift as well. It comes in black or stainless steel options; we have black stainless steel for the majority of our appliances so either would work in our kitchen! Honestly, I had never thought of adding an ice maker to my kitchen, but it sure would be good to have, especially during summer (sweet tea season, here in the South). Thanks for sharing your experience with this Newair model. Food for thought…

I used to work at a hospital that had a nugget ice machine – I drank 3-32oz cups of water a day, mainly because I love the ice. Nugget ice doesn’t hurt your teeth when you chew it. (I also love Sonic Drive-In’s ice) Would absolutely love to have a Nugget Ice Machine (maybe I’d drink more water again 🙂
I would love to give this a try.
