I love music and our youngest really does too. She’s always dancing around and singing! So when I find good Christian content that combines music she enjoys with messages I actually want her hearing, I get pretty excited. Today, I’m happy to share something I recently discovered: The Dead Sea Squirrels: Season 1 (Original Soundtrack)!
The Dead Sea Squirrels: Season 1 (Original Soundtrack) Review & Giveaway
If The Dead Sea Squirrels sounds familiar, there’s a good reason. The series comes from Mike Nawrocki, co-creator of VeggieTales and the longtime voice of Larry the Cucumber. (Our family LOVES VeggieTales!!! We actually just watched MacLarry & The Stinky Cheese Battle last night!) Now, Mike’s bringing his signature humor and creative storytelling to a new generation of kids.
Meet The Dead Sea Squirrels
The Dead Sea Squirrels follow 10-year-old Michael and two very unusual squirrels named Merle and Pearl. But these aren’t your average squirrels. Merle and Pearl were preserved in Dead Sea salt for 2,000 years! After they are brought back to Tennessee and unexpectedly revived, Michael discovers that his new furry friends have firsthand knowledge of Jesus and His teachings.
Throughout the series, Merle and Pearl help Michael and his friends work through modern-day problems. And all the while, they sharing biblical wisdom along the way. It’s a fun concept that gives kids plenty of humor and adventure while introducing important lessons about faith and character.
22 Songs From Season 1!
The album features all 22 songs from the first season of The Dead Sea Squirrels animated series. Season 1 includes 13 episodes and explores a wide variety of biblical lessons and passages. Kids are introduced to themes such as:
- Kindness
- Honesty
- Diligence
- Mercy
- Self-control
- Overcoming worry
- Trusting God
- Jesus’ birth
- Baptism
- The Kingdom of God
- The Last Supper
- The Crucifixion
- The Resurrection
Something I really appreciate about this soundtrack is how the music is entertaining, but there’s substance behind it too. This can be hard to find in much of today’s music. — As Mike Nawrocki explained, the goal was to create songs kids would want to sing repeatedly while helping the biblical truths behind the lyrics stick with them long after the music ends.
Christian Music Parents Won’t Mind Hearing On Repeat
I’m happy to say this is one cd I don’t minding hearing repeatedly throughout our day! The Dead Sea Squirrels: Season 1 (Original Soundtrack) features an impressive lineup of Christian artists and performers. This includes Matthew West, Bart Millard of MercyMe, Katy Nichole, Ellie Holcomb, Mac Powell of Third Day, Steve Taylor, and three-time GRAMMY Award winner Ashley Cleveland as well as others!
The Dead Sea Squirrels Franchise Is Growing
And Merle and Pearl aren’t going anywhere anytime soon! Season 2 of the animated series is currently in production and the book series continues to grow as well. Book 13, Cybersquirrels, was released on April 7, 2026. And Book 14, Field Day Frenzy (available to preorder NOW!), is scheduled to release October 6, 2026. The Season 1 soundtrack also follows three previous themed EP releases: The Squirrel Sessions, He’s Alive!, and The Squirrels’ Guide to Good Choices.

Our Final Thoughts On The Dead Sea Squirrels: Season 1 (Original Soundtrack) | (And Cybersquirrels Book #13)
As a mom, I’m always looking for content that is genuinely entertaining for kids without sacrificing the values and messages my husband and I want reinforced at home. The Dead Sea Squirrels: Season 1 (Original Soundtrack) and book #13 both fit that bill. Kids get catchy songs, silly squirrels, memorable characters, and music they can dance and sing along with. Parents get songs centered around kindness, honesty, self-control, trusting God, and the life and teachings of Jesus – all characteristics we can all benefit from.
So if your kids enjoy Christian music, VeggieTales, The Dead Sea Squirrels books, or the animated series; I think this soundtrack is definitely worth grabbing.
